Attending Rally's and Demonstrations

While it is certainly your constitutional right to do so, carrying an open handgun or an AR15 slung across your back at a rally or demonstration is definitely not a good idea. You and the rest of us law-abiding citizens that carry guns every day can suffer for your selfish actions.
First- It makes you a target for both the bad guys and the police. The only statement you are making is -look at me I'm a stupid gun owner!!
Second- The general public does not understand our plight and they just see you as someone with a gun where they shouldn't be. You are part of the problem not the solution.
Third- If something were to go wrong that gun will be a liability for you and the rest of us because the Colorado Legislature can take our right to carry a gun openly in a heartbeat.
Fourth- We need our open carry law in Colorado. It keeps us from having issues like brandishing and printing. In some states, if someone sees your gun or the outline of your gun in public you can get into trouble. Concealed means Concealed.
I'm all for standing up for our rights, but demonstrating with visible guns is not the way to accomplish anything.

Guns In Cars

Many people are leaving guns in autos and are losing them to thieves. The most popular places to keep your guns according to the police reports we have seen are Under the Seat - The Glove Box- and The Center Console. These locations in your car are not safe. Remember to lock your guns in your car safe when you leave your gun in your car. I have safes available that are inexpensive and TSA approved for flying with your gun. Let me know if I can help you keep your firearm secure.

Home Defense Shotgun Mini-Course

Many people have purchased Home Defense Shotguns because handguns were not available when they felt they needed some protection at home. I will be having some mini-course events on these guns and how to use them. We will look at accessories, ammo and safe gun handling techniques as well as a few laws that may be helpful. Learn what your shotgun is capable of. I will have this mini-course on your schedule and it will last a couple of hours. Let me know your schedule and I will set a date and time for you. This mini-class will be available for a small fee of $35.

Back By Popular Demand Free Gun Cleaning Class FGCC

You should all understand that there are many ways to clean your handgun and they are probably all better than not doing it at all. I am teaching the way I have always done it. The idea is to get all the leftover grunge from the firing cycle out of your gun and to lubricate it so that it runs properly and does not malfunction on you when you need it the most. Many of the modern handguns that we own could probably be fired literally hundreds of times with no cleaning and probably never hiccup even once.
But do we want to take that chance? I personally do not like to carry a fired gun for self-defense. Do I clean my guns after every firing? No many times I don't, but if I fire my everyday carry (EDC) handgun then I always try to clean it right away. Cleaning a gun is like many things in the firearm industry there are a million ways to do it. There is not just one correct way. Find a way that is easy for you and maintain your firearm so that it will work when you need it the most.
Do not go out and buy a cleaning kit......You will want to see what I recommend you get, and I will have some inexpensive cleaning items for sale during these events. August 18th and 19th, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in my classroom. If these dates do not work for you let me know what does and I will try to arrange something different.

OC/Pepper Spray Training

I will have some OC/Pepper Spray training classes a few times in August. I have chosen Monday nights for 2.5 hours starting at 6pm. We will learn what you need to know to use these tools effectively. We will be spraying (water canisters made by the same company) No real pepper spray will be used in these classes. Everyone who attends will receive a live OC/Pepper Spray TO TAKE HOME and a training outline.

OC/Pepper Spray is legal everywhere in Colorado. It is one of the best ways we have to defend property and ourselves in non-deadly force situations. It also serves as a complement defensive tool for anyone that carries a handgun for self-defense. Remember if all you carry is a gun the legal system can say that you intend to use a gun as a solution for everything. Statistics indicate that most self-defense encounters would not qualify for use of a gun (your life is not in danger). Contact me direct for the best OC/Pepper Spray at wholesale prices.

Let me know which Monday works for you. Monday the 17th is not available.
Class fee is $35

6 inch plate cutout faces

Mr. Happy/Frowny Face Dryfire Decisional Drill

This is a new take on tactical professor Claude Werner's drill from months ago
For this drill you will need 2 paper plates, a deck of cards, a red and black marker, and a table or platform to put the cards on. The object of this drill is to practice thinking with a gun in hand. Without using up your precious ammo.
Draw faces on the 6" center of two paper plates. One plate with a happy face (no shoot), one with a frowny face (shoot). Different color markers for each plate, one Red and one Black. Cut them out so you can tape the smaller plates to the wall (just fold the tape so that both sides are sticky. Stick to the plate and place on the wall.
You can place them as close or as far away as you want.
You can stand at any distance that works in your drill location
Use only the Ace, Two, and Three cards of all suits from a deck of cards and then shuffle those cards. Ace through 3 only
Place the cards face down on the table in front of you.
Sequence 1
Turn a card over.
If the card is the color on the frowny face, draw or present the pistol and then shoot the frowny faceplate with the number of rounds indicated by the number of the card. If the card is the 3, then shoot 3 shots. The Ace is one shot. you will have to cock your handgun in between if its a semi-auto type gun like a glock.
If the card is the color on the happy face, don’t draw or present, i.e., no shooting.
Use all the safety rules and procedures that you would use for any dryfire session.
This drill helps you save on ammo during this ammo shortage we are going through.
The drill has several variations but for most people, this is a good start to work on decision-making.
This drill can also be done at home using a SIRT pistol, a toy pistol, a water pistol, or some other simulation. Decision-making and thinking skills are the primary purpose of the drill.

Student Download Page

In class, we talk about the resources of the password-protected downloads page that I have provided my students. I have been working on a new look and new resources for the page. I have been trying to make the information more accessible with categories and organization so it is easier to find what you are looking for. This information is available to my students and not the general public. Great information is available on the legal aspects of concealed carry, training issues, as well as some new information on self-protection coverage and more.

Ammo Shortage

After you have been through a couple of these cycles you will learn some things about ammo. 1st, every time you see some ammo you should pick up a box or two. You will shoot it eventually or in a crisis like this one you will have ammo to practice with or ammo to trade for things like food and water. Ammo is always going to be an important commodity. 2nd, I think the prices are very high for what is available. I think the price will come back down and availability will increase. Remember we usually go through this when we have a Presidential Election (hint hint). Don't pay those high prices you are seeing on the web. All you are doing is helping people take advantage of you and all the rest of us. The price will come down and you will be able to purchase ammo again at a reasonable price.
