Concealed Carry With PermitBack in July, I published a story Restricted Concealed Carry Pueblo Colorado and in that article I stated that Concealed Carry was restricted on public transportation, specifically bus transportation.

Gary from recently asked me:

Rick, I am the Co-Owner of and Reading your site you posted back on Jul 18 about concealed carry and No Open Carry Signs. You stated the places that those with a permit/license to carry can not carry and you stated Public Transportation (Bus). I can’t find this in state law or the Admin Rules. Can you tell me where this is in CO Law/Regs as I don’t have that listed as a place off limits for Colorado. Any assistance you can give in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Stay safe, Gary Slider

I started to look through outlines from all the education courses I attended, but was unable to locate any citations as to where one might find this information. I looked through the Colorado Revised Statutes and could not find the spot where concealed carry on public transportation was discussed. Today I called the RTD Regional Transportation District in Denver and asked the question of the customer service rep named Mark who took my call. I explained what I wanted to know and we looked together through website information to no avail. Mark then took all my information and said someone would get back to me. About an hour later I received a phone call from a Detective and a Captain with the RTD, and they proceeded to tell me exactly what I wanted to know. The statute is listed below and the key to the whole cite is “without legal authority”. As Concealed Carry Permit holders, we have legal authority as granted with our Concealed Carry Permits. I will be checking with several other cities, including Colorado Springs and Pueblo, to see if there are any notices posted on the transportation in those jurisdictions.

Concealed Carry Rules and Regulations

Remember that I teach information that I believe to be factual, and if anything, I lean on the cautious side. I have always stated to all my students that we can all learn, none of us know everything, but it is always ultimately your responsibility to check for yourself.

Most people that carry a concealed handgun every day also carry a knife. Here at Have Gun Will Train Colorado we are offering several lines of knives that we are dealers for. One of those lines is Blackhawk. You all recognize the name Blackhawk for their concealed handgun holsters and other tactical gear. One reason people carry knives is the utility use, the other is that sometimes you can not carry a concealed handgun, or you are going to some location that prohibits it. Knives make great alternative personal protection. We will be having a knife training session soon in our training program. Let us know if you are interested in attending.

Concealed Carry Questions and Answers

Many people have asked questions about concealed carry gun issues  for the state of Colorado. While I have answered these concealed carry questions many times it is always important to go over these issues again and again, because some people have not asked or do not remember the issues.

Concealed Carry

means concealed not open as in open carry. Open Carry is an issue by itself and as a 2nd amendment lover I think Open Carry is a great right, but not a real smart thing to do. We all know people who think it is a statement for 2nd amendment rights but to be frank it makes you a target. Open Carry gets the public nervous and without retention training someone is liable to take your shiny gun and use it on you.

Concealed Carry Issues

have been the same for many years. Many of the common Concealed Carry questions are answered in this short informative document

 Private Concealed Carry Class

This weekend I held a private concealed carry class for a local business and their family members at their place of business. The Gals were mostly packing revolvers and the Guys were mostly toting semi-autos. Surprisingly enough, the concealed carry class did exceptionally well in most of the hands-on training that I require. We covered all the basics and talked about kids and guns. Most of these young families were concerned about safe gun handling and storage in the home, as well as protection against home invasions and other criminal activity.  Many were surprised to learn that every person who is a law-abiding citizen has a right to have a loaded gun concealed in their car even without a concealed carry permit.

 Concealed Carry for Young Families

These families were getting some good info and were taking it very seriously. Many of the suggestions and information in the class will be put to good use.  Safety training is one of the most important aspects of all these Concealed Carry classes and we covered it from head to toe. Including, but not limited to, the safe loading and unloading of both revolvers and semi-auto pistols.

Concealed Carry- Law and Legal Education

will be held Sunday March 4th at 1:00pm to 4:30pm at Pueblo Municipal Shooters. If you have never experienced a class put on by Patrick Watts you have missed some great Concealed Carry training. His criminal code and concealed class is one you will want to attend. Patrick is a retired Deputy Sheriff from Arizona and as such has trained close to 5000 people in his 32 year law enforcement stint in Arizona. He is an NRA Certified Police Firearm Instructor, an Arizona Post Certified Police Firearms Instructor, an Arizona Department of Public Safety Certified CCW Instructor, and a Bondurant Certified High Speed /Pursuit Driving Instructor just to name a few. The Concealed Carry law and legal class is raw and real. Some of the stories he tells and the verbage used are just to good to be true. You definitely will come away with some information that you need to know.

Concealed Carry Law and Legal Info you Need to Know

One of the things I preach to my students is that every individual that carries a concealed handgun needs to know the rules. It is each individual’s responsibility to be sure what they are doing is within the law and with that knowledge be more articulate about these issues and be better able to explain one’s actions should that time ever come.

Concealed Carry Law and Legal education for $15……

Pueblo Municipal Shooters sponsors this class about once every 3 months and Patrick does it for a fund raiser for them. At $15 its a steal and a lot of information for the buck. A concealed carry law and legal class like this would cost much more money if you took it somewhere else.
